•Working closely with other business groups and external stakeholders to better align shared drought, disaster and response communications
•Designing specialist Government Advertising and Communication Committee (GACC) submissions
•Supervising and mentoring other communications professionals

About the role
As our Principal Communications Advisor, you will:
• Develop, manage, and evaluate integrated communication strategies and activities for specific projects and business, such as disaster, drought, climate policy and other agriculture programs.
• Research, prepare and coordinate a range of campaigns, communication tools, publications, reports, briefings, submissions, correspondence, and social media.
• Develop partnerships and working relationships with internal and external clients including government, industry, and community.
• Liaise with the media team on matters relating to specific projects and issues.
• Provide leadership to various agriculture campaigns.
• Research, analyse and interpret current and emerging trends and technologies relating to communication best practice.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with senior management, colleagues and clients in order to meet expectations and improve service delivery.
• Provide strategic advice and options for communication activities to senior management.
• Have an oversight of governance including corporate ID, government advertising campaign submissions and other duties.
• Manage timelines and deadlines to ensure deliverables on time and within budget.
• The Principal Communications Advisor reports to the Director, Disaster Response and Recovery.
• Participate in a roster to undertake out-of-hours public information activities for natural disasters and other emergency incidents.
• Support, guide and mentor direct reports including managing human resource, leave and health and safety requirements.
Essential requirements
• Demonstrated experience in crisis communications.
You may also have
• While not mandatory, a tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be well regarded.
