Your New Team

The Government Insurance and Risk Team leads high-profile litigation across personal injuries, public liability, medical negligence, and historical abuse claims. Known for its expertise and impact, the team also provides strategic legal advice to key government stakeholders.

Your New Role

In this pivotal leadership role, you'll head a respected team of government lawyers known for their advocacy across State and Federal Courts and their trusted advice to departments across the Queensland Government.

As an Assistant Crown Solicitor in the Government Insurance and Risk team, you will be a legal specialist in personal injuries and public liability litigation—guiding the team's legal performance, client engagement, and day-to-day operations.

You'll be empowered to:

• Shape litigation strategy and deliver authoritative legal advice on complex matters
• Lead a high-performing team with empathy, accountability, and a focus on impact
• Build strong, service-focused relationships with government clients
• Drive team performance and manage financial, resource, and productivity targets

Your Skills Profile

• ~10+ years PAE in personal injuries litigation (defendant or plaintiff experience);
• Strong technical knowledge of civil procedure and relevant Queensland legislation (including Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, Civil Liability Act 2003, Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, Limitations of Actions Act and Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999);
• Strong background in supervising and leading teams;
• A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in mentoring and developing your team;
• Proven success in driving high levels of client service and engagement;
• Experience in process improvement and change management;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Exceptional written and verbal communication;
