About the role
Permanent full time opportunity to supervise and provide efficient and effective operational support services within the Operating Theatres and Perioperative Services environment.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Assist health care professionals in provision of patient care associated with operating theatres, such as transporting, manual handling and positioning of patients in a caring manner that maintains dignity of the patient and adheres to the clinical direction provided.
- Setting up theatres with tables and equipment appropriate to different operations. Cleaning duties which will include the cleaning of Operating Theatres and associated areas to Infection Control Standards, general and periodic cleaning tasks include walls, windows, ceiling, furniture and fittings, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing and changing of curtains.
- Collection and delivery of blood products, specimens for blood bank and pathology departments when required. Assist other Theatre staff in emergency situations and as appropriate.
- Participate in in-service education and on the job training of Patient Support Officers in Operating Theatre procedures.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of inexperienced Theatre Patient Support Officers in Theatre procedures.
