The role of the Senior Service Support Officer is to provide high quality services to young people and families, to divert high risk young people who are at risk of entering the youth justice system. The Senior Service Support Officer will provide early intervention and case management to young people and families in collaboration with key government partners within the group (Early Action Group) and non-government agencies in the community.

The Senior Service Support Officer key responsibilities are:

  • Undertake culturally appropriate assessment, planning and case management for young people and their families.
  • Develop and conduct programs and services to young people at risk of entering the youth justice system.
  • Implement programs and service response plans through negotiation with service providers and linking clients to the service/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government, and non-government agencies).
  • Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports, performance reporting and data entry to ensure casework and organisational accountability.
  • Consult and effectively work with relevant stakeholders including families, Elders, other key community members, community agencies and government departments to enhance their capacity to support young people and their families.
  • Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.
