About the opportunity:

Position: Associate Nurse Unit Manager

Vacancy: Temporary Full-time from 09/06/2025 to 04/10/2025 with the possibility of an extension up to 12 months

Location: Nursing Midwifery Workforce Services / Corporate Service Group / Townsville University Hospital

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) forms part of the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Services (NMWS) to support the work of the Nurse Unit Managers/Midwifery Unit Managers (NUM/MUMs) and rural Directors of Nursing (DONs) across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS), while developing core skills of the NUM/MUM role.

  • Salary range: $4651.40 to $4749.00 p.f. (NG 6(2)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications/ professional registration/ other requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in nursing leadership would be well regarded.
  • Highly Desirable: The ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
  • Highly Desirable: The ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
