Lead a dynamic team of policy experts in delivering strategic advice on safeguarding= the Great Barrier Reef. In this role, you will develop innovative solutions for water quality and protection, advising the Minister and government on regulatory and nonregulatory approaches. You'll collaborate with key stakeholders, drive policy changes and lead negotiations on complex issues. Represent Queensland’s interests alongside Australian government partners to implement the Reef 2050 Plan. Your contribution:
In this role, you will lead and manage multiple work and project teams to deliver outcomes in a positive and collaborative environment. You will provide strategic leadership on key policy areas aimed at improving water quality and protecting the Great Barrier Reef. This includes representing Queensland in partnerships with the Australian Government and agencies like the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to drive joint Reef protection initiatives. You will engage strategically with stakeholders and partners to support the Queensland government's Reef policy and the joint Reef 2050 agenda. Additionally, you will represent the department and Queensland government in committees, working groups and negotiations, collaborating with stakeholders both within and outside of government. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the development and review of Reef protection regulations and policies, ensuring that they are based on scientific evidence and best practices.

About you:
• Proven experience in leading complex policy and strategy development projects from inception to evaluation and review, meeting set deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issues and implement innovative solutions in dynamic environments.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with experience providing strategic advice to support government decisions and representing the government's position confidently in negotiations.
• Skilled in building and maintaining collaborative relationships within a strategic network to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, fostering a sense of purpose, direction, and developing high-performance teams with positive, inclusive dynamics.
