About the role
- Provide practical assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants throughout the blue card application process, ensuring culturally responsive and respectful service.
- Take verbal submissions and assist risk assessment officers in improving applicant engagement with police and other assessable information.
- Offer advice on cultural and regional issues relevant to eligibility assessments and make evidence-based recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Assist in planning and coordinating community visits and monitoring application processes.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of culturally appropriate policies and procedures.
A bit about you
- An understanding of the cultural, historical, and contemporary contexts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Communication skills and the ability to consult effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound, evidence-based recommendations
- A willingness to travel intrastate, including overnight stays in remote communities.
- A commitment to culturally responsive service delivery that respects and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Note - This is an identified role. This means the role must be filled by an Aboriginal for Torres Strait Islander person.
