As a member of the MRQ Training Team you will coordinate and oversee the development, and evaluation of training functions Assisting with planning, implementation and delivery you will work collaboratively across the Central Region (based in Rockhampton), with State and MRQ member stakeholders to ensure delivery of standardised, accredited and non-accredited, competency-based training.

You will provide strategic advice for capability focused projects and monitor interdependences across multiple initiatives to achieve the successful delivery of training. The Regional Training Coordinator supports the operational capability of a new integrated marine rescue service.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

• Provide leadership and direction to plan, coordinate and facilitate training programs in areas of responsibility in support of improved professionalism, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of staff in accordance with relevant service and national standards.
• Manage coordination of education and training including travel for members, facilities, including purchasing and maintenance of training equipment and other assets.
• Identify, develop, and implement strategies and provide advice on efficient coordination of training needs and activities relevant to area of responsibility.
• Coordinate and manage projects involving volunteers to ensure the development of professional and effective education products and to ensure completion of projects within negotiated timeframes.
• Identify and monitor trends, best practice, and emerging issues pertaining to education and training.
• Provided the professional expertise necessary for consultation and advisory services for senior managers in relation to the implementation of best practices with innovative approaches to the evaluation of education and training.
• Cultivate relationships, establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external clients, stakeholders, and service providers in  order to identify efficiencies, consistency and enhance service delivery outcomes relating to education and training.
• Manage and coordinate, in liaison with the Manager and senior staff, the preparation of the budget and finances, including the monitoring of expenditure and provide timely advice to management.

Role Requirements

Mandatory

• Possession of Open ‘C' Class Queensland Drivers Licence

Qualification

• Cert II Coxswain NC (Grade 1) equivalent or higher
• TAE40122 Cert IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Short or Long range operator certificate of proficiency (SROCP or LROCP) or equivalent

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience

• Experience in Maritime Search and Rescue Organisations' (national/international), or be willing to acquire formal search and rescue qualifications within six months of commencement
• Knowledge and/or qualifications in project management

Other

• Knowledge and/or qualifications in Disaster Management
• Ability to travel intra-state in alignment with service requirements
• Experience working with regional and remote communities, in particular First Nations' communities, and demonstrate a knowledge of cultural and other sensitivities when working in these communities
