As our Compliance Coordinator you will:
• Respond to and investigate alleged breaches of legislation including assisting with planning, information and evidence gathering, conducting interviews, collecting witness statements, assisting with preparation of court briefs and quality assurance activities
• As appropriate, exercise powers of an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2014
• Provide accurate high-level advice to stakeholders and team members on biosecurity matters and applicable legislation in ways that fosters voluntary compliance e.g. provide compliance input to stakeholder education and/or collaboration programs
• Undertake and assist others to undertake compliance, investigation and enforcement activities according to relevant compliance priorities, strategies, plans and procedures
• Contribute to the continuous improvement, review and implementation of compliance strategies, plans and procedures
• Mentor and provide guidance to other team members in responding to compliance breaches to ensure consistent and proportionately responsive compliance in partnership with the Investigations team where necessary
• Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including other government agencies, industry and the community to promote compliance and stakeholder support for the program and participate in community engagement activities such as representing the program at biosecurity forums and committees
• Keep accurate records of facts and findings in relevant paper and information technology systems
What you will bring
Mandatory requirements
• A current unrestricted “C” Class Driver's Licence
You may also have
· Appointment as a Queensland Biosecurity Authorised Inspector or strong knowledge of the legal requirements of an authorised officer under a relevant Act or Regulation would be highly regarded.
· Experience in explaining compliance requirements to encourage voluntary compliance with biosecurity requirements.
· Excellent information, evidence gathering and analysis skills, including the abilit to write up clear report/statements of fact and recommendations.
