Providing early intervention, statutory Youth Justice, and detention services to ensure that young people are held accountable for their offending behaviour.
We help support them to become responsible members of the community. Providing trauma-informed support and resources to victims to ensure they can recover and heal, whilst ensuring the voices and experiences of victims are heard and respected.

TARGETED VACANCY

Key responsibilities
As Indigenous Service Support Officer, you will specifically:
• Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.
• Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans in collaboration with Case Managers, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government, and non-government agencies).
• Consult and effectively work with relevant stakeholders including families, elders, other key community members, community agencies and government departments to enhance the capacity of these stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families subject to youth justice orders and their families.
• Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports and performance reporting.
• Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Delegations
Indigenous Service Support Officers have a range of statutory delegations under the Youth Justice Act 1992.
