Narbethong Special is seeking a dynamic Deputy Principal to lead in a highly specialised setting, ensuring quality teaching and learning, strong leadership, and a positive community culture.

This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.

A qualification or experience in vision impairment will be positively regarded but not essential to the role.

About Narbethong State Special School

Since 1963, Narbethong Special School has been committed to providing high-quality, inclusive education for students with vision impairment and additional disabilities from birth to post-school transition. Grounded in the principles of Equity and Excellence, we ensure that every student is supported to engage, progress and thrive in their learning.

At Narbethong, we implement Multiple Disability Vision Impairment (MDVI) expert teaching and learning to ensure students access learning in ways that are meaningful and responsive to their needs. We deliver the Australian Curriculum alongside the Expanded Core Curriculum for students with vision impairment, with a focus on maximising educational achievement and fostering student wellbeing and engagement. At Narbethong, every learner can experience success, build independence and develop the skills needed to participate actively in their learning.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
