About your opportunity:
The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol, Other Drugs Services is responsible for delivering Mental Health and Other Drugs Services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and for supporting other mental health and AODS in the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait Northern Peninsula Area. Its primary objective is to ensure access to a comprehensive range of treatment and support services, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, disability support, as well as early intervention, and mental health prevention and promotion.
About your role:
- Deliver clinical services within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards for consumers incarcerated at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre.
- Provide clinical advice and support to the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre upon referral of offenders, in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of people with serious mental illness who are incarcerated, sentenced, or on remand.
- Co-ordinate and provide specialist training and professional development activities to staff working with people with a mental illness.
- Develop and/or review management and monitoring plans of offenders with mental health issues who are incarcerated at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre and who are transitioning back into the community.
- Provide training, support, and assistance to stakeholders to manage consumers who are incarcerated and have mental health issues.
