Role details
The Child, Youth and Family Health at the Carlyle Community Health Centre is seeking applications for an Advanced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (Early Childhood) to join their team on a temporary basis.
This role is classified in accordance with the Phase 2 outcome provided under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2019. A Phase 3 process will occur to confirm the classification of the role. This process may result in changes to the role description, position title and classification and remuneration levels, however there will be no loss of employment conditions or remuneration for employees.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Your opportunity
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (early childhood) role:
- Functions within the multi-disciplinary team to promote and deliver efficient, effective, clinically relevant, culturally safe and appropriate client outcomes in the specific area of early childhood and family health.
- Supports in the provision of comprehensive, holistic care services delivered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
- Provides health care services within the community settings across the HHS.
About the Team
The Child Youth and Family Health (0-18 years) unit is a primary multi-disciplinary health service which is part of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service. The building is located at Carlyle Community Health Centre in Carlyle Street, Mackay. The service extends from Mackay to Sarina and Walkerston. The unit offers client focussed screening, monitoring, guidance and education along with appropriate referrals and early interventions.
