Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

The Senior Dental Officer delivers high quality oral health services by providing clinical leadership and general practitioner oral health services to eligible adults and children. This role is also responsible for providing functional management at a senior level.

Remuneration package of up to $194,288 p.a.

  • Salary range: $158,532 - $170,285 p.a.
  • Rural incentive (17% of base salary)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About the role

  • Provide high quality general dental practitioner oral health services to the eligible population with referral of patients to an appropriate specialist where required. Maintain highly developed clinical skills and personally provide all branches of dentistry customarily performed by a general dental practitioner
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership for Adult Services and Child and Adolescent Services in rural and remote clinics.
  • Undertake clinical review of assessments required for prioritisation, medical referrals and allocation of waiting list placement.

Role requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires possession of a tertiary qualification in dentistry from a recognised institution and current registration with the Dental Board of Australia.
  • Possession of a current licence to operate a radiation source for Dental Diagnostic Radiography (intra oral)
  • There is a requirement that all dental practitioners are credentialed and have their scope of clinical practice defined with Qld Health before commencing employment and throughout employment with Qld Health.
