Key responsibilities
• Implementation of the department's environmental and cultural heritage manual and guidelines, including the completion of field briefs, site investigations, impact assessments and audits.
• Develop and manage Cultural Heritage Management Plans.
• Liaise, consult and negotiate with Traditional Owner groups, other government departments and stakeholders on cultural heritage issues.
• Provide information and advice to managers and staff in relation to legislative and departmental policy, procedures and processes relating to cultural heritage issues.
• Developing and implementing new systems and procedures to integrate cultural heritage considerations into regional operations
• Provide input into strategic planning of road network improvement to ensure that all cultural heritage issues are identified and considered early in regional processes.
• Project manages cultural heritage related consultancies, including the development of project briefs, review consultancy recommendations and oversee the implementations as required.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• Degree qualification from a tertiary institute in archaeology, anthropology, social science, or an equivalent qualification.
• A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence

Requirements of the role
• You can exercise individual judgment and initiative, with limited supervision, when applying relevant cultural heritage legislation to road infrastructure projects.
• Proactively engages relevant parties and seeks to establish new networks.
• Generates a range of options and considers appropriate solutions.
• Ascertains client's needs and tailors service accordingly.
• Develop and applies strategies for planning individual and team activities resources in order to achieve team goals.
