We are seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to work across both branches and play an integral part in the branches and Executive teams. The role is responsible for overseeing efficient, responsive executive support services, managing the branch establishment and budget, coordinating corporate governance and performance reporting, and supporting the senior management team to deliver departmental and government priorities.

We are seeking a motivated professional to manage the fast-paced, high-volume environment of the Bioregional Planning & Office of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage, Environment and Heritage Policy and Programs division. The role supports both Executive Directors to operate the branches efficiently while delivering high quality sustainable services, programs, policy, and corporate objectives, in alignment with the priorities and policies of the Government of the day.

The Office of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage is responsible for coordinating the Queensland Government's Reef strategies and programs to drive accountability for Reef health outcomes; and meeting the Queensland Government's responsibilities for the governance, protection and management of Queensland's World Heritage areas in partnership with the Australian Government.

The Bioregional Planning office is working with the Australian Government to develop bioregional plans that support sustainable development. The initiative aims to better protect areas that matter most for the environment, develop information to support decisions about where development, protection, and restoration activities should and should not happen, and facilitate faster development decisions for industry.

The Business Manager is a role in which you will:
• Lead the development, implementation and coordination of effective budget and business planning, performance management and reporting, workforce planning and management, management audits and governance frameworks, systems, processes, and activities within the branches.
• Lead, oversee and coordinate human resource management, financial services, communication and governance, and executive services.
• Lead the branch's contribution to strategic plans, annual reports, and associated documents as well as monitoring and reporting on branch performance against key targets, objectives, and key programs.
• Provide high-level and strategic advice (both written and verbal) to the Executive Director's, Directors and senior management on budget and business planning, performance management and reporting, workforce planning and management and governance systems and processes and activities.
• Coordinate the review, identification and treatment of risks and audited topics, assist with business improvement initiatives, and investigate strategic opportunities, prepare project proposals and submissions and where necessary undertake and lead special projects.
• Participate as a member of the senior management team within the branch while undertaking governance activities, including operational and strategic planning; budget forecasting, monitoring, and reporting; human resource management and management of statutory reporting to meet departmental needs.
• Lead the evaluation and review of business performance, governance and reporting frameworks and ensure the Executive Director's, and senior management are effectively informed on business, financial and workforce performance related issues.
• Foster effective working relationships with business areas to support them in implementing organisation change, performance management, planning, reporting and management audit initiative and activities.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
