About us
With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

Key responsibilities
In the role of Technician (Asset Management) you will assist the Asset Management team providing technical data management, advice and support to effectively manage the life cycle of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) road assets.
Accountabilities include:
• Build, manage and support the Road Infrastructure Asset Management systems and datasets for the District.
• Provide specialist technical services that support and guide the Road Infrastructure Asset Management and design decision making
• Undertake Road Infrastructure data collection, entry, validation and improvement
• Analyse, interpret and report on Road Infrastructure Asset Management information for a variety of internal and external clients
• Provide client support and training in the use and application of the associated systems
• Provide relevant and accurate information and advice to a wide variety of stakeholder inquiries
• Present and transfer information in a variety of formants to suit a diverse range of client's requests
• Comply with WH&S Act, regulations and departmental policy
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Possession of an Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil), Surveying, GIS or acceptable equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution or registered training organisation is mandatory.
• A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
Requirements of the role
• Demonstrates a clear understanding on complex engineering drawings in relation to road infrastructure including pavements, structures (bridges) and drainage.
• Have a understanding of construction of and the lifecycle for road infrastructure for pavements, structures (bridges) and drainage.
• Demonstrate an understanding and experience with databases for various applications with a focus on infrastructure management and maintenance.
• Strives for efficiency in day to day tasks by leveraging data and automation to innovate improved methods and work practices.
• Welcomes challenges in the delivery of work and demonstrates persistence in working through obstacles. Prioritises projects and tasks efficiently to ensure the delivery of services.
• Able to gain insight into issues by analysing the available information in a critical manner. Accepts decision making responsibility and demonstrates judgement about when to escalate issues.
