The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Carer Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Gold Coast Intellectual, Developmental Disability Mental Health Service) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide direct carer peer support to carers, families, and significant others through an integrated model of care
- Positively promote individual and family recovery orientation and principles with clear professional boundaries
- Facilitate relevant carer support and education groups, develop and deliver carer skills training and evaluate carer specific programs.
- Engage in professional development and training to develop knowledge and skills in recovery oriented carer peer work and actively mentor AO3 Carer Peer Workers in their development.
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Experience working as a Peer Worker in a public mental health or alcohol and other drug service or the non-government sector is essential.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work (Carer Elective chosen) or the ability to demonstrate that they are working towards a certificate would be well regarded.
- Driver Licence
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- Base salary ranging from $45.81 - $50.46 per hour

The Gold Coast Intellectual, Developmental Disability Mental Health Service (GCIDDMHS) is a specialist community based service that provides specialist healthcare to young people and adults with complex neurodevelopmental conditions such as intellectual disability, autism, congenital neurocognitive conditions who present with significant moderate to severe emotional and behavioural difficulties, including co-occurring mental health disorders. The multidisciplinary team works in collaboration with other professionals to ensure that the individual's health needs are met. They do this by providing high quality assessment, evidence-based intervention, and care plans in collaboration with, and evaluated by, the individual and their support network.
