About the role
The Gerontology Department currently provides a range of services that includes Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE), Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), Orthogeriatric Liaison, Community Geriatrics and a range of Specialist Outpatient Clinics.

With an aging population, we are commencing a Geriatric Evaluation and Management in the Home (GEMITH) programme to provide up to two weeks of intensive support to suitable patients in their own home.  The successful candidate will collaborate with the existing gerontology services, including the Frailty Intervention Team (provision of gerontic support to ED and RACF's) and Residential Aged Care Nurse Practitioner Service, to commence this new model of care and may also be on-call and do weekend ward rounds on a rotational basis for geriatric in-patients. There is an existing (and successful) non-geriatric HITH Service and there will be opportunities for synergy and co-development with this team as well as with the core Gerontology Department.

Role requirements

  • You will hold Geriatric Medicine specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
  • Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the National Police Certificate.

Please refer to the role description for further details.
