Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.
This Expression of Interest collects a variety of information that will help the Townsville Hospital and Health Service identify potentially suitable applicants for future Resident Medical Officer employment opportunities.

About the opportunity:
Position: Resident Medical Officer
Vacancy: Fixed term temporary full-time, up to three years, medical year
Location: Townsville University Hospital
Resident Medical Officers will:
- Provide high quality clinical care to patients of The Townsville University Hospital.
- Provide supervision / mentoring of junior medical staff including inpatient care and may include some responsibility for providing teaching, medical students and allied health staff.

- Salary range: $3743.20 to $4031.00 p.f. (L2-L3)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading

Requirements:
- Successful completion of Medical Internship.
- The position requires the incumbent to have obtained a degree qualification from a recognized tertiary institution and hold current registration or eligibility for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia. As a general expectation you would need to eligible to gain at minimum Level 2 Supervision.
- To participate in shift rosters (including on call shifts) is a requirement of the position. You will be required to have the transportation means to ensure you can attend work at rostered times and in accordance with your on-call responsibilities.
- Up to three (3) months may be spent relieving in other hospitals in the Region.
- Requires a level of Information Technology/Digital literacy, which includes a strong foundation of graphical user interface skills, and the ability to quickly achieve proficiency in concurrent access of multiple, complex electronic patient databases and recording systems. Data entry skills require a typing speed to a minimum of 50 words per minute of medical information.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance.
