About you
We're looking for individuals who are passionate about conservation, land management and working collaboratively. To be successful in the role, you will also have:
- Ability to guide and support core pest programs and projects.
- In depth knowledge of feral animal, invasive weed and emerging biosecurity, including effective techniques in line with relevant legislation.
- Strong communications skills and the ability to support operational units deliver desired outcomes.
- Ability to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders of pest management, management planning, and engagement with our First Nations partners.
- High level writing and data presentation skills to contribute to management planning and the development of key thematic strategies.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a geographically dispersed team.
- Strong initiative, problem solving and resolution skills.
- Project management fundamentals including planning, reporting and budgets in liaison with relative units.
- Mapping and data collection skills (desirable, not mandatory).
- Willingness to listen, learn and participate.

This position supports and guides operational staff with identifying, treating and managing pest species and assists with monitoring the condition of values on protected area. You will be responsible for oversight and delivery of selected pest programs and projects in direct cooperation with operational units, while providing reporting on expenditure and progress tracking. The position provides technical assistance with departmental systems and applications relevant to these activities.
Please note that this is not an operational ranger position. Technical support roles primarily administrative positions with some field work incorporated to assist operational work units deliver projects.
