The Wet Tropics Management Authority is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Project Officer (Governance) to provide leadership in financial management, human resource practices, and organisational administration. Based in Cairns, at the heart of the stunning Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, this permanent role offers the opportunity to bring your expertise to a unique organisation. You’ll provide leadership to senior management and advice to the Board on the administrative functions of the organisation, while also working closely with divisional leads in the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation in areas such as finance and HR. Additionally, you’ll lead and develop administrative staff, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure effective systems and processes.

The Wet Tropics Management Authority is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Project Officer - Governance (AO6) to join our team in Cairns.

This permanent role offers the opportunity to provide high-level advice and leadership across a range of strategic and operational functions, including finance management, change management, administration, records management, information technology, and governance. You'll play a vital role in supporting the Executive Director, the Wet Tropics Management Authority Board, the senior management team, and all staff of the Authority.

As the Senior Project Officer - Governance, you will lead and manage projects to deliver the Authority's strategic objectives, providing expert advice on financial management, human resources, and governance systems. You'll analyse expenditure and performance against budgets, offering timely and high-quality advice to senior management and the Board. Building strong relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders, including departmental leads in finance and HR, will be key to your success. Additionally, you'll supervise and develop administrative staff, foster a positive workplace culture, and contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people through meaningful engagement and collaboration.
