You are invited to join a dynamic team with Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services as Director of Infrastructure. Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) provide planning, construction, operation and maintenance of all Health Service physical facilities, engineering systems, plant and equipment to meet strategic objectives within a quality environment. BEMS currently consist of professional, operational, administrative and trade staff. The trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry and painting.

About your opportunity:
The role is responsible for the full spectrum of infrastructure management functions across the Health Service, including leadership of the BEMS Department. These responsibilities are exercised through the management of in-house labour, and the management and supervision of day labour and/or contractors where necessary to supplement in-house labour.
In your role:
- Lead the provision of expert advice and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Committee and Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board on capital delivery and development, Health Service wide facility and asset management/maintenance and infrastructure allocation. This includes monitoring national and international trends.
- Oversee the completion of projects to ensure a high standard of project methodology, consultation, communication, coordination and control for Health Service projects in accordance with Queensland Health policy and directives.
- Represent the Health Service in relation to design, development and asset management/maintenance and provide high level expert input into relevant local, state-wide and national committees, meetings, forums and working parties.
- Ensure management practices comply with Health Service policies such as employment equity, anti- discrimination, occupational health and safety, ethical behaviour.
