An exciting opportunity exists to join the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project, within Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in the role of Principal Officer (Sustainability).

The Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line (DSC) project forms Stages 1 and 2 of The Wave – a generational infrastructure project that will revolutionise travel for the Sunshine Coast region, creating a seamless public transport network for the region.

The Wave will deliver heavy passenger rail from Beerwah to Birtinya (the DSC project), and metro style buses will provide links between Birtinya, Mountain Creek, Maroochydore CBD and the Sunshine Coast Airport.

The Opportunity
In the role of Principal Officer (Sustainability) you will provide high level leadership and sustainability expertise to support the DSC project and the Department.

You will manage the delivery of sustainability initiatives on the DSC project, ensuring that the project is delivering best practice initiatives throughout planning, delivery and once finalised, in operation and maintenance of the rail corridor. You will work closely with the engineering, commercial, environmental and cultural heritage teams on the project, and the broader sustainability stakeholders within TMR to ensure that sustainability is integrated into all elements of project delivery

You will model behaviours and attitudes aligned with DSC Project Values and TMR's values and contribute to a positive team culture, meeting of team and personal accountability expectations, and modelling the standards of professional behaviour.

Mandatory requirements:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental planning or equivalent.
• Current driver's licence.

We are looking for an individual with:
• Demonstrated experience working in major infrastructure project delivery.
• Well-developed ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to develop innovative strategies and solutions.
• Strong understanding of circular economy, sustainable procurement, supply chain management and decarbonization concepts.
• Demonstrated experience working with major infrastructure contractors to implement sustainability initiatives.
