Senior Communications Officer

Become a valued member of our Strategic Communication branch to help manage our department’s social media channels and connect Queenslanders with skills, training and workforce initiatives that support local industry and lead to jobs.

You’ll be involved in delivering social media advertising campaigns including building ads, monitoring and interpreting analytics and adjusting ad components to improve ad performance and return on investment. You also be part of the team creating, scheduling and posting high performing, engaging content and managing social media responses.

The Strategic Communication branch is committed to delivering communication solutions to ensure departmental programs, initiatives and priorities are effectively communicated to external customers and stakeholders through targeted messaging and channels.

About the role
As the Senior Communication Officer, Digital and Social Media you will:
• Assist the Digital and Social Media Manager to manage the department's social media channels including content creation, scheduling, posting and managing responses to enquiries in collaboration with key business units.
• Identify, create and develop high quality engaging content for the department's social media channels across a range of platforms and engage with other business units to generate high performing content.
• Deliver social media advertising campaigns (advertisements) including building ads, monitoring and interpreting analytics and adjusting ad components to improve ad performance and ROI.
• Using a social media management tool and social platforms, develop reports for social media for presentation to senior officers and to support continual improvement of social media activity.
• Support development of the department's social media strategy outlining how the department will effectively use digital and social media to engage with key customer groups.

What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:
• Apply high level technical skills and current knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms to deliver high quality, engaging content for both organic and paid campaigns
• Analyse situations and propose creative digital and social media solutions that promote and protect an organisation's corporate image and support the achievement of communication goals.
• Engage with and influence groups with disparate social media and digital marketing knowledge and expertise to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
