Your opportunity

In South West Queensland, health service partners are focused on developing a connected system of care that will improve the wellbeing of people impacted by severe mental illness in community settings. Closing the Gap in health outcomes for First Nations peoples is a priority of all models of care in SWHHS and the role will provide an opportunity to work across the South West Queensland and engage with leaders in indigenous communities in remote areas.

This role has significant autonomy and would best suit someone with advanced clinical and leadership skills who enjoys working at full their full scope and working in a small, remote community with a vibrant cultural history. It is critical that you are knowledgeable of State and National MHAOD strategies and are able to use co-design to translate evidence into culturally safe models of care.

The very nature of what we do and who we are is the real opportunity. Providing health care in the bush is full of challenges, however, it remains the most rewarding of human experiences.

Cunnamulla is a designated Remote Area Nursing Incentive Package (RANIP) site in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award – State 2015. This attracts additional entitlements which may include:

  • An annual isolation bonus paid annually!
  • Return airfares to the nearest provincial city in conjunction with leave!
  • Additional annual leave per annum!

Please note: Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) implications may apply, it is recommended that individuals seek independent financial advice.

If you are looking for a sea change, you might find your home away from home in the outback town of Cunnamulla. Surfing the sand dunes, relaxing in the artesian springs nearby, having a mudbath at Eulo, exploring national parks and fishing the Warrego river are all on the agenda in this red dirt outback escape.

What we can do for you

Ultimately, we provide you a platform to leapfrog your career with more opportunities to experience a wider scope of practice with less competition due to location and population.

Nowhere else will you experience the vast diversity of nursing/medical and career advancement other than in rural and remote Queensland.

  • People focused role which allows you to give back to the community!
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution!
  • Temporary accommodation may be available by negotiation!
