About the role

Fixed term temporary full time opportunity to be involve in responsibilities for clinical care of patients in a role between that of a Senior registrar and Consultant with graded responsibility to allow increasing clinical autonomy and development skills in education, administration, and research.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provision of clinical care of patients within, or referred to, the ICU. Work in the lead role for one of the ICU pods under the supervision of the ICU Specialist. ICU Specialist will be available for advice at all times. There will be a graded escalation in autonomy and responsibilities over the year at appropriate times as deemed suitable by the supervising specialists.
  • TY trainee will be involved in junior medical and nursing team members teaching in bedside and scheduled session settings. TY registrar will be actively engaged in facilitating education and simulation for medical students, residents, registrars, nursing and allied health staff.
  • Preparing Junior and/ or Senior registrar rosters under supervision, when allocated to do so.
  • Conducting morbidity and mortality reviews under consultant supervision, when allocated to do so.
  • Assistance at CICM examination at The Prince Charles Hospital when CICM exam is held in Brisbane, with organisation and conduct, as required by the Specialist in charge.
