Job details

Dakabin State High School has created a culture of high performing teachers by investing in them through a timetable which has created space for a 70 minute paid Professional Learning Team time whilst also engaging students in Academic Intervention in English, Mathematics and Science.  Teachers are also able to engage in Curriculum Teaching and Learning time each morning as another initiative of Dakabin State High School investing in their staff.  The school also has a dedicated Deputy Principal of HR to offer support to teachers regarding their work/life balance and issues, as well as be able to support staff in a coaching capacity.  As of 2025 the school has also invested in a Deputy Principal of Student Engagement to lead our Restorative, Inclusive, Student Engagement (RISE) Team.

The teachers are supported by their faculty HOD as well as a behaviour HUB with a dedicated Deputy Principal, HOD Student Engagement and Year Level Coordinators to support classroom practice. Dakabin State High School also has an Aspirant program which is currently providing the opportunity for staff to gain opportunities in higher level positions.  Dakabin State High School also supports New and Beginning Teachers in a fortnightly program.  Dakabin State High School enables their staff to be engaged in committees such as Wellbeing, PBL, Inclusivity and Pedagogy.  Our school was presented with a Showcase Excellence Award for the Metropolitan North Region which is recognition for the great work being undertaken by our teachers to create Assessment Literate Learners across our junior year levels.

• Science - Year 7-10 / Biology - Year 11-12
  • The skills and experience to be able to teach Science are essential. It would be preferable for the applicant to be a qualified Science teacher, however a love of teaching in this area would also suffice.  
  • The ability to teach Biology would be preferred but not essential.

• Behaviour Management - Year 7-12
  • The qualities most important for this role are a growth mindset, the ability to work collaboratively and the ability to connect with students and staff.
  • The skills and experience to be able to work to support students in a restorative model is essential. 
  • It would be beneficial for staff to have worked in this space previously or have professional development that supports their ability to improve behaviour in a proactive way.

• Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. • Employment for pre-service/graduate teachers will be subject to the successful completion of a relevant teaching qualification and meeting the minimum requirements as a teacher with the department.
