Paediatric Services with Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced and client focused Nurse Practitioner - Paediatric Respiratory.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 72 hours per fortnight.

The Nurse Practitioner - Paediatric Respiratory provides evidence-based care to patients within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service for children with Respiratory and Sleep conditions.

This role will require collaboration with key stakeholders, including Queensland Children’s Hospital, to ensure seamless care coordination across the state.

About the opportunity:

Position: Nurse Practitioner - Paediatric Respiratory

Vacancy: Permanent part-time, 72 hours per fortnight.

Location: Paediatric Services, Women's and Children's Services, Group, Townsville

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide comprehensive advanced practice skills within the area of Paediatric Respiratory to patients that access care within the Townsville HHS. They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals as indicated. The NP - Paediatric Respiratory will provide safe, quality, cost effective care within their scope of practice that is consistent with NP standards of care and evidence-based practice.

The role will have key responsibilities in the development of Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep services in line with national and state standards.  The NP - Respiratory will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within sleep medicine in the future.

  • Salary range: $75.27 to $78.59 p.h. (NG8)

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • A Nurse Practitioner will be required to complete THHS credentialing at commencement of their role, it is then a requirement to be completed third yearly.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.  Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities in an outreach model to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities.  This may involve day and/or overnight stays.  Travel on small planes or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement.
  • Highly Desirable: 
    • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
    • Working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
