About the role

Deliver clinical healthcare to patients of North West Hospital and Health Service across diverse settings including local hospitals (and multipurpose health services), family general practice, and primary health clinics. You will have clinical, operational and professional oversight of medical service delivery within the Cloncurry Multipurpose Health Service, and extending to McKinlay Shire Multipurpose Health Service, where required.

Requirements

  • The position requires the incumbent to have obtained a degree qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and hold current unconditional registration or eligibility for unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Possession of a Fellowship in General Practice (FACCRM or FRACGP/FRACGP-RG/FARGP). A “Rural Generalist” qualification (FACRRM, FARGP or FRACGP-RG) is highly regarded.
  • Appointment as a Rural Generalist SMO (Level 18 to Level 27) will require one or more of the following advanced skills as specified by the Colleges: Emergency Medicine, Remote Medicine, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Mental Health, or Small Town General Practice.
  • Qualifications in management or other related disciplines would be highly regarded.
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History/Aged Care checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
