This position has responsibility to strategically lead the Humanities faculty across the secondary campus of the college. This position is suited to a leader with a passion for curriculum and pedagogy to engage student learners.

This is a temporary full-time position for 12 months, to commence from 14 July 205 until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Calamvale Community College is a thriving multicultural Prep to 12 school with over 2400 students representing 66 countries, all on one campus, with tailored areas for prep, junior, junior secondary and senior schools.

About the Role

The Head of Department - Humanities will be a valuable member of a Senior Leadership Team focussed on our school strategic priorities of improvement in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Culture of Learning. This position will develop the capability of Humanities staff and the quality assurance practices necessary to ensure a faculty wide approach to systematic curriculum development and delivery. The position will be line managed and supported by a secondary school Deputy Principal.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading curriculum development and implementation across the Humanities faculty.
  • Leading and working with Humanities staff to develop, align and quality assure the three levels of planning.
  • Leading and working with colleague Heads of Department to implemenet the schoolwide Pedagogical Approach complementing subject specific pedagogical approaches.
  • Quality assuring the implementation of the Australian Curriculum v9.0 with a focus on the alignment of Achievement Standards, Cross-curricular Priorities and General Capabilities.
  • Quality assuring the alignment of assessment practices, formative and summative feedback and moderation processes across the faculty.
