With the opening of the Ripley hospital there will be further expansion of Geriatric services to include a Cognitive Assessment and Management (CAM) Unit and Acute Care of Elderly (ACE) unit.

The successful applicant will provide clinical care to patients on a day-to-day basis and lead multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of patient centred care.

About the role

This position is responsible for the provision of specialist Geriatric services to the highest practical standards to patients in the Older Person population in the West Moreton region which includes providing care to the patients in the in-patient Geriatric Unit, OPERA consultative services to general medical and surgical wards and Older Persons Mental Health, Ortho-geriatric service, specialised Geriatric clinics and participating in an on-call roster.

Older Person Services at Ipswich and Ripley Hospitals comprise the following combined in-house and community services:

  • Co-located Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Complex discharge planning inpatient units
  • Orthogeriatric Service
  • Older Person Evaluation Review and Assessment (OPERA) consultation service
  • Geriatric Specialist Out-patient Service
  • Residential Aged Care Support Service
  • Geriatric Evaluation and Management in Hospital in the Home (GEMHITH)
  • Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) team

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills which allow effective communication in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety and quality assurance initiatives, as well as the ability to conduct audits and data analysis of key outcome measures.
  • Experience in relevant areas of inpatient and outpatient care.
  • A sound knowledge of contemporary Human Resource issues including time management, Workplace Health & Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-discrimination, and Code of Conduct.
