The Director key responsibilities are:
- Drive the departmental vision, goals and values and proactively lead organisational and cultural change within the service area, to primarily achieve delegated authority to community controlled organisations.
- Lead and manage the design and development of program models for the delivery of child and family services, including program specifications; accountability and delivery frameworks, guidelines and performance outcome requirements utilising contemporary human service program design theories and mechanisms.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships to support negotiations and discussions with relevant government and non-government partners to co-design and implement effective and practical child and family programs.
- Contribute through the leadership team to the analysis of effective program responses to achieve policy intent and establish a strategic approach to resource allocation, performance monitoring and service quality.
- Work closely with other service areas to ensure the effective implementation of key strategic and policy projects, programs and initiatives to achieve the child and family reforms, including developing and overseeing effective change management strategies.
- Ensure the timely preparation, accuracy and quality of major reports, briefings, budget documents, submissions, speeches and correspondence for Cabinet the Minister and the Director-General.
- Provide advice to the Minister, Director General and senior management team on financial and business management and performance and workforce management including continual improvement and risk mitigation.
- Ensure appropriate and ongoing development of staff to foster a team culture that values performance, continuous improvement, innovation and accountability.

- The position has level 5 Human Resource and Financial Delegations.
