About the role

The Registered Midwife – Midwifery Group Practice for Jaghu Maternal and Infant Program will work in collaboration with the Jaghu team – Midwife, Aboriginal Health Worker, Child Health Nurse, Social Worker; and other Jaghu staff to provide midwifery care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Caseload midwives provide all antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care by conducting appointments either at the woman's home, community clinics or hospital within a defined geographic boundary for a defined group of women.

The Registered Midwife – MGP has the responsibility to ensure the delivering of culturally safe midwifery services across the perinatal continuum and also develop and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with community based and hospital clinicians and health services to enhance support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, jarjums and their families.

Caseload midwives practice collaboratively alongside the Ipswich Hospital midwives, Obstetric and Neonatal team.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated competence in midwifery practice in accordance with relevant standards with at least 1-year post midwifery registration experience.
  • Experience in problem solving, negotiation and conflict management.
  • Consistently and enthusiastically delivers high levels of patient service to exceed patients' expectations.
  • Supports and respects team members, communicating effectively and demonstrating a commitment to the team.
  • Demonstrates strong self-management skills, a commitment to nursing/midwifery and flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes.
  • Knowledge of and a demonstrated commitment to quality processes and evidence-based practices, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to these improvements.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.

 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate is mandatory. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
