We are currently seeking a Senior Staff Specialist, Staff Specialist, or Senior Medical Officer (General Practitioner/Physician/Emergency Physician) to join our Integrated Care Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and experienced healthcare professional to contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care, with a focus on integrated healthcare delivery across the Hervey Bay Hospital. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality medical services, ensuring the optimal management of patients in both acute and community settings.

Your opportunity:
- The role of the Staff Specialist/Senior Medical Officer is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to directly or indirectly benefit the patients/clients of Integrated Care Services, including the ED Avoidance model (known as STREAM) and/or Hospital in the Home (HITH) Service within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service.
- In addition to the key responsibilities listed below, the role of the Senior Medical Officer is to provide such services as may be reasonably directed from time to time by the Professional or Operational Manager.
Whilst this position is Permanent Part Time (60 hours p.f.), the successful applicant may be required to work Temporary Full Time (80 hours p.f.) for the first 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Opportunity for Private Practice:
The successful candidate may have the opportunity to establish private practice outside of their WBHHS appointment with local private hospitals. The successful candidate may receive assistance and concessions with:
- Use of the local private hospital's sessional rooms to allow establishment of practice and referral pathways
- Assistance with credentialling and administrative support to commence private practice
- Introduction to local GP's, physicians and surgeons to facilitate referral pathways.
