About the role
Cancer Services at Ipswich Hospital is a multidisciplinary cancer service situated on the Ipswich Hospital campus. The hospital provides an adult medical oncology cancer service, working in collaboration with private and public partners in radiation oncology.
The Oncology Day Unit operates a five day Monday-Friday service, within the hours of 0800 to 1730. The Oncology Service is located in one-year old purpose-built Day Oncology Unit with an attached Oncology Outpatient Clinic. There are currently 10 chairs fully operational, with another 4 chairs available for expansion.
Located within the Oncology Day Unit is a 4-chair day infusion service, overseen by the NUM of oncology. This infusion service is run through a general medical team, and consists of patients requiring blood and blood products (ivig), Mab's and iron infusions.
The successful applicant will have the ability to apply operational knowledge, leadership capability and communications skills to effectively lead this entire team to achieve goals of further expansion.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to apply specialised knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory in oncology nursing and to participate directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care.
- Demonstrated ability to apply effective management skills including financial skills and specialised knowledge of contemporary clinical knowledge and skills in a Day Oncology Unit management.
- Demonstrated advanced and effective communication, relationship development and maintenance and change management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships, strong teams within a framework of open communication and the establishment of a positive environment across the broad clinical interprofessional team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others in the Day Oncology Unit
- Demonstrated contemporary management knowledge and skills specifically the ability to deliver effective human resource management and advanced financial literacy within the healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated skill in financial management, data analysis, outcome evaluation, service improvement and the ability to communicate these effectively to senior management or external agencies.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
