We're looking for an experienced property professional ready to take the next step in their leadership career. Join the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development as a Principal Valuer (PO5) and help shape Queensland's statutory land valuation system.
Based in Brisbane, this permanent full-time role leads a team of valuers to deliver statutory, land administration, client, and asset valuations across the state in line with the Land Valuation Act 2010 and Land Act 1994. You'll also exercise delegated authority on behalf of the Valuer-General, providing leadership and accountability on complex valuation matters.
In this role, you will:
Lead and coach a team of valuers, provide expert advice on complex valuation matters, and manage the delivery of high-value statutory valuations. You'll be accountable for signing off on valuations used by government agencies, project managing large and technically challenging work programs, and ensuring quality assurance, efficiency, and client satisfaction. You'll also represent the department at external forums, advise on technical valuation issues, and appear as an expert witness in Land Court proceedings.
This role combines strategic oversight, operational delivery, and stakeholder engagement, ideal for a professional who thrives in a leadership role and wants to drive meaningful, measurable outcomes.
We're looking for someone who:
• Holds current registration as a valuer with the Valuers Registration Board of Queensland.
• Has extensive experience in statutory land valuations and knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a geographically dispersed team.
• Possesses high-level analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Can confidently represent the organisation in technical and legal forums.
• Values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
A membership with the Australian Property Institute or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors is desirable. A current C class driver's licence is mandatory, as travel may be required.
