Business Manager - Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre

We are seeking applications for an experienced Business Manager to join our school community on a temporary full-time basis, from 14 July 2025 until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. The successful applicant will be required to work at both the Tallebudgera Campus and Currumbin Valley Campus.

As part of your role, you will be responsible for the management of the Centre's annual budget, actively contributing to the development and monitoring of the Annual Implementation Plan and the provision of professional support for the administration officers and non-teaching staff based at each of the two campuses of Tallebudgera O&EEC.

About Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre

The Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre is located on the southern end of the Gold Coast and has two campuses: the Tallebudgera Beach Campus and the Currumbin Valley Campus. Both Campuses are residential centres that offer education programs for approximately 200 students each week from Prep to Year 12. The duration of programs ranges from day visit programs at multiple locations to extended 3-5 day residential programs on site and adventurous journey programs in the Gold Coast hinterland. The centre also conducts outdoor leadership training and vocational education and training across Queensland through our Registered Training Organisation.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to operate autonomously, providing essential business services within a dynamic school environment. You will be responsible for a comprehensive range of administrative support, including report preparation and problem-solving, while frequently interpreting complex information and adapting processes to ensure efficient operations.

A key aspect of this position involves the day-to-day supervision and management of school support staff. This includes monitoring workloads, performance (in collaboration with the Principal for sensitive matters), identifying capability needs, and serving as a role model for performance standards. You will also oversee timesheet and leave approvals, rostering, relief arrangements, and coordinate the recruitment, induction, and training of support staff.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Principal with budget preparation and administration, undertaking daily financial activities such as expenditure review, payroll, and purchasing. This extends to monitoring and advising on facilities and grounds maintenance, managing resource procurement, and actively building networks with other Business Managers to champion best practices in corporate services.

About You

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, it would be beneficial for the successful applicant to possess the following to support the successful performance of the role:

  • Considerable experience and/or vocational training, applying knowledge and skills in a broad range of situations.
  • Practical experience in administration, financial processes, human resource practices and facilities management with demonstrated knowledge of planning, directing, resource allocation and workforce management.
  • Experience in delivering results, effective decision making, innovation and change, and people development.
  • Ability to communicate with empathy and influence in order to address problems and obtain cooperation and assistance in meeting required objectives.
