About the role
This role demonstrates a high level of clinical knowledge and skills to ensure effective service delivery within the speciality area of the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS). This role delivers high level profession-specific clinical services and leadership as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve better health outcomes for consumers with severe and complex mental health issues in a community-based child and youth mental health setting.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- High level knowledge and skills to undertake non-routine clinical practice with a broad understanding within continuum of care.
- Ability to provide high level communication in a demanding multidisciplinary team environment with the need for high levels of risk sensitivity and case review.
- Ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives, and provide clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners.
- High level of profession specific knowledge, expertise and skill in clinical assessments and intervention within the current legislative and policy context of a mental health service. Specific knowledge and skills in Systemic Family Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and/or the treatment of eating disorders, would be highly regarded.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- For Psychologists: Eligibility for full registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is required. The possession of an Australian Psychological Society (APS) accredited postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology and/or an endorsement in clinical psychology would be highly considered.
- For Social Workers: The possession of a tertiary degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.
- For Occupational Therapists: The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia is required.
- For Speech Pathologists: The possession of a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology providing eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
