We have two permanent, flexible, full-time positions available for the right candidates. In these roles, you will liaise, consult, and develop partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Health, Hospital and Health Services, other government departments, professional groups, people with lived experience, consumers, families, carers, and community organisations.

Role fit

The essential requirements for this role are:

  • Understanding of the mental health alcohol and other drugs service system, including the complex interrelationships within the government, non-government and private sectors, and relevant policy, legislation and clinical practice issues relating to the care, and health and wellbeing, of people living with mental illness, substance use disorders and suicidality.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, management and implementation of clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement or continuous clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and implementing complex system-wide and/or state-wide projects that are time-critical and achieve expected deliverables.
  • Demonstrated high-level analytical, policy and data interpretation and evaluation skills including the ability to integrate multiple related activities to achieve deliverables and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of national and state strategic directions, standards, guiding frameworks, legislation and safety priorities in mental health alcohol and other drugs service delivery and suicide prevention.
  • Working knowledge of best practice healthcare improvement methodology, improvement science, organisational change management or other relevant improvement methodologies.
  • High level negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, and effective written communication skills, including ability to compile reports, briefings, project documentation, discussion papers and submissions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to cultivate productive working relationships, partnerships, and teamwork; and to negotiate outcomes and effectively represent the interests of the Department in dealings with stakeholders from a range of backgrounds and disciplines, particularly Hospital and Health Services.
  • Ability to actively participate in an environment supporting contemporary human resource management practices, including equal employment opportunity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, ethical behaviour, Public Sector Management Commission Standards, and associated Queensland Health policies.
