In this role you will be responsible for further developing the evidence-base to inform policy and program design that addresses offending behaviour and delivers better services to children, young people and families in Queensland. You will be in a position where you will contribute to better outcomes for Queenslanders.

About the role
You will develop and provide strategic research and evaluation advice and options on all aspects of policy development in the YJR&E team, including the preparation of supporting evaluation reports and submissions.
You will provide high level research and evaluation contract management, and effectively communicate team deliverables using visual tools such as infographics and diagrams to achieve the Department's strategic objectives in relation to delivering evidence-based interventions and programs for young people.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Lead evaluation and monitoring projects using appropriate project management techniques, evaluation methodologies and data analysis tools.
- Undertake statistical analyses, to inform internal and external evaluations to support the development of evidence-based policies, programs and services.
- Assist in developing research and evaluation questions, evaluation frameworks and program logic models in a timely manner.
- Undertake critical literature reviews and provide brief summaries of topics to a range of audiences.
- Prepare evaluation reports and provide timely, well researched briefings to a variety of audiences including senior management and governance groups on evaluation/research findings, recommendations and any emerging issues impacting on Youth Justice.
- Prepare a range of written materials including briefing notes, memorandums for approval, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers and reports to a high standard.
- Provide contract management to outsourced research and evaluation projects
- Lead engagement with people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as demonstrate an appreciation of cultural protocols and an awareness of the impacts of historical policies and practices to ensure culturally appropriate evaluation and research.
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
