This role maintains existing information systems and ensures data accuracy; produces and interprets reports with the purpose of maintaining data quality; and provides advice to youth justice service centre staff around the correct entry of data.
The role provides advice relating to Youth Justice data and data quality in support of the department’s client management system, Unify, and the Detention Centre Operating Information System (DCOIS).
The role solves complex data problems and manages communications related to youth justice data and information systems.

As an Information Officer - Custodial, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. - Undertake timely and accurate recording of custodial court outcomes for young offenders involved in the youth justice system and prepare remand in custody reports for courts.
- Maintain and assure quality of data within the relevant information systems ensuring accuracy, completeness, quality and timeliness.
- Manage the accurate transmission of data from external sources such as Police and Courts
- Identify and analyse complex problems in relation to youth justice data and records in the context of policy and legislation and recommend and implement acceptable solutions that support information accessibility, quality, integrity, security and privacy.
- Coordinate and provide data quality communications to regions and other stakeholders to ensure that their data needs are addressed and that they are engaged in data quality issues.
- Ensure youth justice data systems are being implemented in accordance with the relevant legislation, case precedents, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the analysis of current information collection and collection systems to identify current and ongoing data requirements and data quality issues.
- Contribute to the development of progress and status reports, user acceptance testing of system updates and other documentation where required for all related systems, including Unify, EMMA, QWIC, and DCOIS.
