The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices role is to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to reprocessing reusable medical devices across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).

About the opportunity:

Position: Clinical Nurse Consultant - Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices

Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary full-time, 03/11/2025 up to 01/03/2026

Location: Infection Prevention and Control, Corporate Service Group

This role is key to maintain compliance to AS5369 Standard across the THHS, including all the Central Sterilising Departments (CSDs), endoscopy services, oral health services, cardiac investigations, Maternal Foetal Medicine (MFM) and many other areas that use and reprocess reusable medical devices.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices is integral to the local delivery of Certificate III in Sterilisation to staff working in CSDs across the THHS.

  • Salary range: $5081.10 to $5516.60 p.f. (Nurse Grade 7)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities.
  • Certificate: Certificate III in Sterilisation (from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies or equivalent).
  • Certificate: Certificate IV Training and Assessment (from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies or equivalent).
  • On call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
