What you'll do

As a Scientist within Pathology Queensland, you will participate in continuous shift scientific rostering and perform investigations across Chemical Pathology, Central Specimen Reception, Haematology/Transfusion and Microbiology Departments. You will actively participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities. Furthermore, you will work cooperatively and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • Holds a relevant recognised tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize specimens, perform tests accurately and efficiently without direct supervision and work independently towards the logical solution of scientific and technical problems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to perform simple to complex investigations in Chemical Pathology, Haematology/Transfusion and Microbiology.
  • Has availability to work various day, evening and overnight shifts as required for the efficient running of The Prince Charles Hospital Laboratory.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the provision of a client-focused and cost-effective laboratory service.
