The Director, South-East Queensland (SEQ) Patient Transport Services (PTS) is responsible for ensuring excellence in the delivery of non-urgent PTS in South-East Queensland, through strong leadership and the effective utilisation and management of human, financial and physical resources. The role will implement best practice deployment models, coordinate non-urgent ambulance responses in accordance with QAS standards and manage the functions and resources of PTS within a dynamic emergency service environment.
The Director, SEQ PTS will play a crucial role in strategic planning, improving service efficiencies, enhancing client and stakeholder engagement and ensuring the long-term financial viability and sustainability of the QAS non-urgent patient transport service.

- Plan, lead and manage the delivery of non-urgent PTS in South-East Queensland, in accordance with QAS organisational priorities and objectives.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations relating to non-urgent patient transport service delivery, including tactical and strategic issues impacting on all aspects of QAS PTS operations, to inform quality decision making.
- Lead the professional development program for PTS staff, including the development, implementation and evaluation of a strategic training and development plan and appropriate leadership training programs for Operations Centre (OpCen) and PTS field supervisor staff.
- Undertake reviews and manage projects to ensure the implementation of best practice strategies to meet the short and long-term business objectives of the QAS.
- Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with operational staff across the QAS and the Local Ambulance Service Networks (LASNs) and establish an effective feedback system to facilitate continual quality improvement for nonurgent patient transport service delivery.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic business plan to direct and guide the management and operations of non-urgent PTS, in line with QAS strategic and operational objectives.
- Develop and implement high level change management plans for the introduction of new technologies and any strategic information management initiatives linking to field operations.
- Develop and implement a management plan to improve workplace health and safety standards within the OpCen and ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Represent the QAS in industry, community and government forums and meetings, to promote a positive image of the QAS State OpCen and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders.
- Effectively engage and form productive partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the QAS, the Department of Health, the community, government and non-government agencies and unions; and advocate persuasively on behalf of the QAS to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Actively contribute to a positive media profile by promoting and marketing the QAS SEQ non-urgent PTS and the value those services add to the community.
- Identify national and international trends, issues and initiatives relevant to nonurgent patient transport ambulance services and oversee the development of innovative strategies and policies to take full advantage of trends and predicted changes, to ensure that QAS non-urgent PTS are in line with contemporary best practice.
- Lead and oversee a range of human resource management functions, including participating in performance appraisal processes; developing staff potential; utilising the QAS conflict resolution and complaints management systems; and maintaining a work environment that encourages collaborative teamwork, values constructive feedback and provides support to staff when needed.
- Oversee the identification and documentation of risks and the development and implementation of appropriate risk management strategies to mitigate and/or resolve any risks identified.
- Provide strategic leadership and governance and champion organisational change and a shared understanding of the department's business improvement and organisational performance management frameworks, ensuring these priorities are consistently applied.
- As a leader, actively demonstrate and promote the QAS's approach of zero tolerance towards violence and commit to supporting those affected by domestic and family violence in accordance with QAS policies and mechanisms.
