Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Assessment Engagement Services are currently seeking to recruit a Program Manager (Identified) to their team on a permanent full-time position.

About the opportunity:

Position: Program Manager (Identified)

Vacancy: Permanent full-time

Location: Townsville University Hospital

This leadership position is responsible for driving culturally safe, coordinated, and effective mental health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The role provides strategic oversight and accountability for service planning, referral pathways, and care coordination across the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG).

It leads initiatives to enhance cultural competence within the MHSG workforce and manages the operational delivery of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Assessment Engagement Services (A&TSI WAES), including the Social Emotional Mental Wellbeing Team and the Cultural Assessment & Liaison Team.

  • Salary range: $153,379 to $166,659 p.a. (AO7)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

  • While not mandatory, Diploma level or higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care is highly desirable.
  • This position requires the occupant to travel throughout the Townsville Hospital and Health Service regularly and state-wide and interstate as required.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. 
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
