Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist - Senior (Falls Co-Responder)


Queensland Ambulance Stations in Metro South catchment (e.g. Durack and Redland area). May be required to work at multiple sites across Brisbane Metropolitan area.

Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist - (Falls Co-Responder) to join their team. The QAS Falls Co-Response Program aims to respond and safely resolve patient falls through enhanced cooperation, collaboration and understanding between Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service. The response capable units consist of a two-member crew comprising a Paramedic and an Allied Health Practitioner providing a specialised dual response falls team to complete rapid community assessment, intervention, and where appropriate, prevent avoidable hospital transfers.

HP4 Falls Co-Response Candidate Information Session

This session will be hosted by the Metro North and Metro South Hospital and Health Service Program Manager and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Program Coordinator.  It will provide a consistent overview of the Falls Co-Response Program, the HP4 role, key responsibilities, and scope of practice. We'll also cover frequently asked questions and give candidates the opportunity to ask their own. Attendance is strongly encouraged for anyone considering applying.

Please note: the HP4 Metro South HHS and Metro North HHS QAS Allied Health Falls Co-response roles are being con-currently advertised. There is no requirement to apply to both role descriptions for this position. All applicants (MSH and MNH) will be pooled and considered together in the recruitment process.

About the Role

  • Manage an allocated workload to deliver Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within an interprofessional team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards and under clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff.
  • Acts as a clinical reference point with the Falls Co-Responder team and responds to every-day clinical demands.
  • Collaborate on and undertake the development of evidence-based clinical practices, policies and protocols within the Falls Co-Response Program.
  • Apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy complex decision making with only occasional clinical/professional supervision.
