About the opportunity:

Position: Senior Medical Officer

Vacancy: Casual/ Non-standard Hours

Location: Cleveland Youth Detention Centre / Women's and Children's Service Group / Townsville

The role of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) is to provide high quality primary care clinical and non-clinical services on a sessional basis to an adolescent population at the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre (CYDC). This includes working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary care team, at a standard comparable to that available to the general community.

• Salary range: $107.32 to $157.16 p.h. (L13-L27)
• 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

• Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
• The successful applicant must hold general AHPRA registration and hold advanced qualifications such as FRACGP relevant to the role. 
• Highly regarded: Demonstrated broad skills, knowledge and clinical competence in general practice including chronic disease, chronic pain, addiction and psychiatric issues.
• Highly regarded: Demonstrated understanding of the challenges of providing health care in a correctional environment.
• Highly desired: Demonstrated knowledge of infection control and universal precaution principals.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
• Probation period may apply.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
