The Principal Procurement Officer is to provide operational and strategic procurement and contract management services for QAS staff. You will be required to develop and promote procurement ‘best practice’ and contract performance while developing effective relationships within the QAS, supporting agencies and commercial suppliers through liaison, negotiation and consultation to successfully deliver a high-quality procurement service.

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.
From 1 July 2025, the QAS will formally transition to a Statutory Body, guided by our values and focused on developing fit-for-purpose governance and corporate arrangements that support our vision of Inspiring Extraordinary Sporting Success.
Our ambitious high-performance strategy for the 2032 Games is to create more medal-winning moments for Queensland athletes that inspire their state and nation. While our strategy guides our performance, our culture truly delivers it. Given our vision, our culture is vitally important to us.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead QAS procurement and purchasing activities (including professional contractors and consultants), and procurement and contract management projects (including process improvements and audits).
- Lead the QAS procurement and contract management policy, framework and associated documentation (i.e. frameworks and processes), ensuring alignment with Queensland Government Procurement Policy.
- Provide strategic advice on best practice approach to procurement and maintain a contract management dashboard to ensure procurement outcomes meet the performance of business needs.
- Establish and implement a forward procurement plan for the QAS across all procurement activities.
- Develop and conduct tender documentation, release, evaluation processes, drafting and awarding contracts, and where applicable, contract disclosure.
- Work with stakeholder groups to develop and execute market research, risk analysis, sourcing strategies, procurement and evaluation plans, and contract specifications.
- Maintain awareness of industry procurement and strive to continuously improve the procurement function within the QAS.
