The Tissue Typing Laboratory is a statewide service and as the reference laboratory provides a comprehensive range of consultative services to clinicians assisting in the treatment and management of all transplantation and immunogenetic services throughout the State of Queensland.

To support the Principal Scientist in the supervision of HP3 level staff in the Tissue Typing Laboratory, to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards in areas such as HLA typing, HLA antibody detection and Flow crossmatching, donor organ allocation and immunogenetic associations for disease susceptibilities for the support of transplantation services in Queensland.

Actively undertake the implementation, technical specifications, design, build and management of the laboratory IT solution in consultation with senior laboratory staff and Information Technology teams

What are we looking for ?

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to apply advanced scientific judgement in making complex scientific judgement in Immunology as it applies to current and future technologies as they apply to Tissue Typing and Immunogenetics.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both the immediate work team and broader environment and to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff, internal and external clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to Tissue Typing and the IT solution.
  • Ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff, internal and external clients on issues pertaining to information technology
  • Ability to provide ongoing support and documentation for IT solutions and specialised software
  • Develop scientific specifications that will articulate what the solution or system requirements are, to manage business level requirements, produce clear scoping and to assist design technical documentation
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Transplantation and Immunogenetics Services in accordance with NATA/ISO/NPAAC, TGA and ASHI accreditation/ certification and the strategic direction of Pathology Queensland.
